National Safe Work Month kicks off on 1 October 2024. Held annually every October, National Safe Work Month is dedicated to encouraging both individuals and organisations to prioritise work health and safety (WHS) and take preventative action to reduce the number of work-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities.
The safety information shared during the month aims to promote a positive safety culture and emphasise the importance of good WHS practices not just during October, but every day.
How does it work?
Every year, National Safe Work Month revolves around an annual safety-related theme and each week is dedicated to a particular WHS topic.
This year, the weekly themes are:
Week 1 (1 - 6 October): Work health and safety fundamentals
Week 2 (6 - 13 October): Psychosocial hazards
Week 3 (14 - 20 October): Risk management fundamentals
Week 4 (21-31 October): Musculoskeletal injuries
What can you expect each week?
To support our members, we've developed some new resources as well as collated our existing resources to support each safety-related, weekly theme.
Each week, we'll provide resources in line with each theme so you can continue to keep staff engaged and informed throughout the month.
We'll also share the resources that National Work Safe Australia provide.
How to use the resources?
- Put the posters up around your office
- Use the guidelines provided to hold information sessions with your team
It's competition time!
Throughout October, we'll also be running a competition for the best safety slogan. Gather your team and come up with the best safety slogan that encourages individuals to keep good WHS practices going.
We've got 10 safety packs to give away to the lucky member with the best safety slogan.
