The Leisure Institute of Western Australia Aquatics (LIWA) invites local government to attend the upcoming Western Australia (WA) Aquatic Recreation Conference and Trade Show, held over the 15– 16 August at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. This event promises to be a great opportunity for networking, learning, and discovering the latest updates in the aquatic industry.

Stats based on 29 local government swimming pool assessments for the financial year of 2023/24 delivered in partnership with LGIS:

  • Initial assessment overall average safety score was 93.19%.
  • Post 8-week follow-up period overall average safety score was 96.05%.
  • 296 faults/recommendations for improvement were made throughout these facilities.
  • During the 8-week follow-up period 43% (127) of these faults were rectified.
  • 57% (169) of these faults/recommendations for improvement remain outstanding.
  • 52% (15 of 29) of facilities accepted the offer of a free 12-month subscription to Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO).
