October is National Safe Work month, and Safe Work Australia is providing resources to workplaces to be able to promote awareness on WHS, and there is a different focus each week.
The 2023 theme is 'For everyone's safety, work safely' and will be focussing on four categories of work, health and safety this month.
- Working together to manage risks at work – week 1 (1 – 8 October)
- Working together to protect workers' mental health – week 2 (9 - 15 October)
- Working together to support all workers - week 3 (16 – 22 October)
- Working together to ensure a safe and healthy workplace – week 4 (23 – 31 October)
Our members can visit (National Safe Work Month 2023 | Safe Work Australia) for more information and use their resources to organise their own safe work month events.
Take the opportunity to focus on WHS and the wellbeing of your workers to reduce injuries and claims. LGIS has seen a rise in the average worker's compensation claims costs; the average claims now costs $27,570 which is a 46% increase in the last five years.
