
23 New work, health and safety codes of practice have been approved by the Minister for Industrial Relations. They came into effect on Friday 15 July 2022.
These codes, developed through consultation with unions and employer organisations, will help you understand what you need to do to comply with specific regulations and provide healthy and safe workplace.
Codes of practice do not replace the law. Codes of practice are published on the department's website after they're approved. Of note for WA local governments are the following which have now been approved:
- Construction work
- First aid in the workplace
- Hazardous manual tasks
- How to manage work health and safety risks
- Labelling of workplace hazardous chemicals
- Managing noise and preventing hearing loss at work
- Managing hazardous chemicals in the workplace
- Managing risks of plant in the workplace
- Managing the risk of falls in the workplace
- Managing the work environment and facilities
- Occupational safety and health in WA public sector
- Psychosocial hazards in the workplace 2022
- Violence and aggression at work 2022
- Work health and safety consultation, cooperation and coordination
- Workplace behaviour 2022
