The workers' compensation claims consultant's role involves:
- Developing a claims strategy
- Achieving positive, timely and cost effective resolution of claims
- Making informed decisions
- Processing compensation and entitlements
- Maintaining regular contact with our members, and conduct claims reviews as required
- Liaising with the injured worker, the local government, the treating practitioner and other stakeholders (such as legal counsel) involved in the claim
- Coordinating the injury management and rehabilitation
- Managing the closure process for claims
LGIS injury management consultants are available to provide expert advice on injury management, treatment, rehabilitation and return to work issues.
The injury management consultant's role involves:
- Working together with those assigned injury management responsibilities within the local government to ensure that they are well resourced, educated and informed regarding their role and responsibilities.
- Liaising with the employer, injured worker and treating practitioner to ensure "best practice" injury management is provided to injured workers at all times.
- Providing specific return to work and injury management advice to those managing injured workers at local governments.
- Monitoring and managing the performance of workplace rehabilitation providers.
