​LGIS is pleased to announce the appointment of David Etherton PSM as an Independent Director on the LGIS Board, effective 1 January 2027. With more than 30 years of senior executive leadership experience, David brings substantial expertise in governance, public sector leadership and strategic oversight to the organisation.

David recently retired as Chief Executive Officer of VenuesWest, following a distinguished career in senior leadership across the Western Australian public sector. Over the course of that career, David has built extensive experience in organisational leadership, public sector risk, technology and cybersecurity, all of which will further strengthen the breadth of expertise on the LGIS Board.

In 2023, David was awarded the Public Service Medal in recognition of outstanding leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic. This honour reflects David’s strong commitment to public service, sound leadership and the ability to guide organisations through complex and challenging environments.

David’s appointment reflects LGIS’ ongoing commitment to strong governance and effective leadership in support of the local government sector. David’s experience and insight will be a valuable addition to Board deliberations as LGIS continues to respond to emerging challenges and opportunities on behalf of members across Western Australia.
